Atticus Sims is an artist and researcher whose work focuses on the intersection of art, technology, and consciousness. He currently holds the position of Specially Appointed Associate Professor in the Faculty of Media Creation at Kyoto Seika University. In 2016 he founded Kyoto VR, an immersive media company whose mission was the digital preservation of Kyoto’s history and culture through immersive technologies such as VR and AR. His current work explores the possibility of direct representation of conscious states in works of art through the utilization of brain-computer interfaces (BCI), machine learning for affective computing, and generative AI art tools. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, he now lives in Kyoto, Japan.
