Dr. Kausar Samli is an applications-oriented technology commercialization executive. His engagements span industries (including biotech, quantum computing, and blockchain), non-profit organizations, and academia. As a thought-leader, internationalist, and entrepreneur he leads and advises teams on strategy, technology commercialization, and organizational development. Living in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America significantly shaped Dr. Samli’s global perspective. A key theme of his efforts includes democratizing enabling technologies through the intersection of academia, industry, and government.Dr. Samli served as SVP Global Services for Learning Machine. Post-acquisition by Hyland, he continues to serve as Head of Global Services for Hyland Credentials. Dr. Samli previously served as COO at 1QBit, a quantum computing software company developing hardware-agnostic platforms and services for applications in machine learning, optimization, and simulation. He also served as CEO at Lectenz Bio, a biotech company developing novel biomarker detection technologies and products using high performance computing and protein engineering. Additionally, in service to communities he is a Horizon 2020 Expert for the European Commission, an investigator for Creative Destruction Labs (West), an external reviewer for Innovate BC, and a member of Singularity University’s Singularity Expert, . He serves on the Board of Directors of Genome BC, Lectenz Bio, and Women@TheFrontier, and on the Board of Advisors of the Aubrey Daniels Institute.Dr. Samli also has a unique blend of scientific expertise in cell-specific targeting, high-throughput screening, molecular evolution, protein engineering, and computational chemistry. He was the recipient of a Marie Curie Fellowship and is a co-inventor on issued and pending patents. Dr. Samli’s research has been published and presented at international conferences. He holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, and computational chemistry from the University of Georgia, a M.S. in chemistry from Arizona State University, and a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. He attended Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program specializing in technology entrepreneurship and global grand challenges and has co-founded multiple start-ups.
