Wolfgang Fengler has a long-term background with the World Bank focusing on economics, innovation and competitiveness. At TEDx Vienna in November 2014, Wolfgang launched his first data machine population.io, which was endorsed by Bill Gates. Aftershock (2020) featured him as one of the world’s 100 leading futurists and the German weekly DER SPIEGEL called him a “big data virtuoso”. His work has been covered by the FT, ECONOMIST, BBC, CNN and CNBC. Wolfgang spent more than 20 years in leading positions with the World Bank during which he lived in the USA, Asia, Africa, and Europe. Previously, he was the CEO of Africa Consulting, LLC, and a Fellow at the Research Institute for International Relations. He received his PhD from the University of Hamburg (Germany).
