Mountain View, CA (December 8, 2015) – Singularity University (SU), a benefit corporation focused on empowering leaders to leverage exponentially-growing technologies to tackle the world’s greatest challenges, has announced updates to its 2016 Global Solutions Program (GSP), which is accepting applications now through Monday, February 22, 2016 at Midnight PST. Formerly named Graduate Studies Program, GSP empowers participants with the tools, knowledge and skills to discover technology-based solutions to improve the lives of billions.
At no cost to participants, GSP is a 10-week program designed to help participants unlock the potential of exponentially-advancing technologies, such as artificial intelligence & robotics, digital biology, nanotechnology and computing systems, to innovate solutions to humanity’s biggest problems. Participants range from social entrepreneurs, engineers and lawyers to scientists, technologists and physicians. Throughout the program, they are exposed to the methods and mindsets for leveraging technology to create innovative social impact and are charged with the mission of turning inspiring ideas into feasible solutions. The goal is to create viable companies that address global grand challenges.
New this year, GSP16 has allocated spots for 2-3 person teams to enter the program together. Also new for 2016, SU has announced GSP Launchpad, an 8-week program immediately following GSP that is designed to further solidify the transformation of the participants’ projects into companies. SU pledges greater commitment to ensuring successful project outcomes by offering a select number of positions for Launchpad, with applications open toward the conclusion of GSP.
In 2015, Google and SU signed an agreement aimed at breaking down barriers to technology innovation by creating opportunities for a more diverse and committed group of entrepreneurs from around the world. Through this agreement, Google provides $1.5 million annually for the next two years to help fund Singularity University’s GSP program, making participation free of charge to direct applicants.
