Mountain View, CA and Santiago, Chile (January 28, 2016) – Singularity University (SU), a benefit corporation focused on empowering leaders to leverage exponential technologies to solve the world’s greatest challenges, has announced that it will host its first Latin American Summit in Chile. SingularityU Chile Summit will take place in Santiago, April 26-27, 2016, at CorpArtes, Rosario Norte 660, Las Condes.
An intensive program for business executives, entrepreneurs, financial and government leaders, the SingularityU Chile Summit will feature 12 influential leaders in science, technology and innovation, who will address global trends being impacted by the rapid rise in technology and analyze future challenges facing Chilean businesses, organizations and industries.
Singularity University CEO, Rob Nail, explains that participants can expect “two days to learn to see the world differently”. The discussion will focus on key issues affecting productivity in the coming decades, which are applicable to the various areas of economic development in Chile including: industrial production, trade, retail, financial markets, energy, health, mining, education, food, astronomy, services, transportation and urban planning.
Topics to be covered include: Artificial Intelligence, Biotechnology, Smart Cities, Nanotechnology, Robotics, Connectivity from the Internet of Things, 3D Digital Manufacturing, Energy Storage, Medicine of the Future, Networks and Computing Systems, New Financing, and the Work Culture of the Future.
SingularityU Summits were first launched in Europe, in Hungary, The Netherlands and Spain. In addition to Chile, SingularityU’s 2016 Summits will be held in Mumbai, India, and Berlin, Germany, with future Summits to be announced.
“Chile, and Santiago in particular, are examples of thriving business ecosystems with multiple stakeholders: companies, startups and government working together to innovate and create an impact,” said Emeline Paat Dahlstrom, Chief Impact Officer at Singularity University. “We hope the SingularityU Chile Summit will strengthen solution-seeking innovators across Chile and throughout Latin America.”
The approximately 600 participants who will attend SingularityU Chile Summit will explore questions such as: How can technologies impact the exponential growth of an industry and what are the responsibilities leaders must assume to solve the great challenges driven by technological change?
In addition to lectures, the Summit provides myriad opportunities for networking, including an Innovation Lab, where a selection of companies and enterprises will showcase their developments; participatory “fireside chats”; and even a uniquely-designed space for children, where they will learn about robotics and other technologies, creative thinking, and be able to meet with a NASA astronaut.
Barbara Silva, Director of SingularityU Santiago Chapter and CEO of BeSTinnovation, noted that the meeting “aims to provoke discussions of value, and expose new questions about the impact of innovation on productivity, talent, industries, public policy, and implications for a long-term view of Chile’s growth. “Our aim,” Silva adds, “is for the Summit to mark a ‘before and after’ for Chile, and to spearhead a series of initiatives that will foster innovation in Chilean industries”.
