MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – October 10, 2018 – Singularity University, a global community with a mission to educate, inspire, and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to help solve humanity’s grand challenges, has announced the creation of ten new community Chapters, and three Chapter renewals, bringing the total of SingularityU Chapters worldwide to 126 in 63 countries. Kenya and Slovakia joined the SingularityU Chapter roster.New SingularityU Chapters have been formed in Bratislava, Slovakia; Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai, India; Nairobi, Kenya; Phoenix, AZ, Portland, OR, Sacramento, CA, and Seattle, WA in the USA; and Zapopan, Mexico. Chapter renewals have been granted to Brussels, Belgium; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and San Diego, CA, USA. India now has five Chapters and the United States has a total of 18 Chapters. The Chapters and their leadership teams are listed below, and you can read about these local Chapters in their founders’ own words on the SU Blog.In 2017, SingularityU Chapters hosted 320 events around the world, attracting more than 25,000 participants focused on employing technological innovation to improve the quality of life in their communities and around the world. Chapter application and review periods occur quarterly. The Q4 Chapter application process is now open until November 7, 2018, for innovators interested in supporting the SU mission by establishing a SingularityU Chapter. “The global network of Chapters at Singularity University are engaging local community, around the ideas of exponential technology, social impact, and abundance,” said Dharmishta Rood, Singularity University’s Senior Director of Community Leadership. “These Chapters regularly host events in their local cities, engaging stakeholders across a wide range of professional experiences including entrepreneurs, policy makers, designers, academics, and business and NGO leaders. By participating in these local events, local attendees gain access to a network of impact-driven peers, mentors, and potential collaborators.”SU welcomes applications for new Chapter submissions every quarter. At least one member of the proposed Chapter leadership team must have participated in an SU program, such as attending the SU Executive Program, SU Incubator, and/or SU Ventures, and have been inspired to empower innovators in their local communities. Chapter leadership teams represent a diversity of perspectives and experiences and demonstrate community-building skills that align with overall SingularityU Chapter goals.
